Area Highlights

Olbrich Botanical Gardens – Award-winning Olbrich Botanical Gardens –16 acres of outdoor display gardens and the indoor, tropical Bolz Conservatory. Prairie-style Rose Garden and the only Thai Pavilion and Garden in the continental U.S. Special events, concerts, garden-related classes for adults and kids, gift shop, gardening library, and meeting rooms. Gardens are owned and operated jointly by the City of Madison Parks and the non-profit Olbrich Botanical Society. The gardens were established in 1952.
Goodman Community Center – The Goodman Community Center is not your average community center. It has programs and resources that address Academic Success and Lifelong Learning, Community Engagement, Leadership and Life Skills and Healthy Nutrition and Fitness Habits. There is something for everyone throughout the year.
Tenney Park – With its friendly atmosphere and impressive display of storybook scenery Tenney Park serves as a place to socialize, a peaceful recluse, and a place to just be. It’s an excellent place to watch boats launch, seagulls flock, let the children play at the park, or just catch up on some reading. Under the narrative trees share a picnic on the plush, green grass while enjoying the seemingly endless horizon of Lake Mendota. Tenney Park is also a fantastic place to toss out a line for fishing, swim at the beach, or play a game of one of your favorite sports such as soccer, softball, or volleyball. Take stroll down the winding paths by foot, by bicycle, or rollerblades. In the chilly winter months, after gliding across the frozen lagoon, rejuvenate with a snack in the warming shelter. With its beauty and versatility in every season, this historic park is sure to be a favorite throughout the year!
Garver Feed Mill – Located on Madison’s near East Side, nestled behind Olbrich Gardens, the Garver Feed Mill is a multi-faceted destination that features local artisans, producers, wellness studios, and retailers offering visitors everything from coffee to gardening, catering to kombucha.
Lake Monona – Second largest lake in the Madison area. The views of the downtown skyline at night are pretty spectacular. Visitors have access to the lake from public boat landings, public beaches. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, Sturgeon and Catfish. Bike route around lake is 12 miles.
