Looking for Book Recommendations?

We are book lover’s ourselves and wanted to share with you some of our favorites!

Audra’s Favorites

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle – A classic filled with wonder, color, a girl, her family, and a tesseract.

The Long Secret by Louise Fitzhugh – I did not realize this was the beginning of Harriet the Spy. It was a super long summertime book for a nerdy kid (me).

Harry Potter – each and every one!

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – Made me realize, perhaps for the first time, that not all laws are just the power of race, gender, education, and all the emotions of standing up for what you believe.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson – Lisbeth is a badass, plain and simple. But honestly, oh so complicated.

The Witching Hour by Anne Rice (1 of 3 of the Mayfair Witches Series) you have to read them all! This series is “gauzy” shrouded, and stunningly romantic. Families can be brutal, secrets are destructive, and the dark arts incredibly seductive.

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Do not take this book on vacation. War, immigration, power struggles. This book is devastating. I cried a lot.

The Devil in the White City and The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson  – The first is a gripping story of a serial killer in Chicago during the World’s Fair the second is an up-close look at Winston Churchill and his family during the war.

Honestly, I could go on and on and on. The simple act of writing these titles down and thinking about them makes me want to get out and get the next great book!

Marcie’s Favorites

I also loved Harry Potter. My kids used to put on Harry Potter plays in the backyard with the neighbors during the summer!

I  loved the Kite Runner and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.

I also loved The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah for the adventure and selfless acts that some people did during World War II. I love historical fiction.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens was also a good story with a surprise ending. I enjoy when a story isn’t so predictable.

Recently I read American Dirt about a woman and her son who escaped from Acapulco Mexico because the drug cartel killed the rest of their family. I could not put this book down.

Snow Flower and The Secret Fan by Lisa See was excellent, learning about Chinese culture.

My bookclub read The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. It was so good that we read all her books. Super sad but yet endearing.

If you haven’t read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon this is a fantastic book to understand how people with autism navigate life. Super interesting!

These are just some of our favorites. What are your favorite books?
