Monona Grove School District serves the communities of Monona and Cottage Grove. It has one primary school, grades 4K-5 in Monona; Two elementary schools (grade 4K-1 and grade 2-4) and one middle school grades 5-8 in Cottage Grove, and one high school, grades 9-12 in Monona.

The Oaks Golf Course is a public, 18-hole layout located in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, United States. It opened in 2003. It was named one of Golf Digest magazine’s “best new courses” in 2004. The course has six par 3s, five par 5s, and nine par 4s for a total par of 71.
Door Creek Park is approximately 160-acres, located east of the I-90/39 and south of I-94, between Milwaukee Street and Cottage Grove Road (County Highway BB). This park, in the summer, offers basketball courts, playground, and tennis courts and in the winter offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails.
If you like to hike or bike, the Glacial Drumlin State Trail is a multipurpose rail trail in the U.S. State of Wisconsin. It stretches 52 miles from Waukesha to Cottage Grove.
McCarthy Youth & Conservation County is a place where kids from the city can learn about nature. The park offers a group camp, hiking, cross-country skiing, equestrian trails and camping, picnic opportunities, and a beautiful prairie/wetland restoration.
Schuster Farm, in Deerfield, has many family activities including Blooms and Butterflies in the summer and pumpkins, corn maze and Haunted House in the fall!
